Who we are

Cutscene is made by , , who decides how your information is used. Lemon Squeezy is our reseller and merchant of record for orders. Contact us at . We follow South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect

  • Waitlist: your email address, the wording you agreed to and when, the page you signed up on and the site that sent you, and, if you came from an ad, which ad.
  • Buying: your name, email address, country, what you bought and the amount. Lemon Squeezy handles your card details. We never see or store them.
  • Your licence: your licence key and a short name for each computer it's activated on, so we can stop it being shared.
  • Support: anything you send us when you ask for help.

Cutscene itself does not upload your videos, clips or scripts. They stay on your computer.

Why we use it

To send your launch code, deliver what you bought, activate your licence, answer support emails, and send news about Cutscene if you agreed to it.

Who else handles it

  • Lemon Squeezy is our reseller and merchant of record: it takes the payment, charges sales tax, creates your licence key and checks it when you activate it (it receives your key, a short name for your computer and your IP address).
  • Google stores the waitlist in a Google Sheet.
  • Meta, if we run Facebook or Instagram ads, measures whether an ad led to a sign-up or a sale.
  • Our email provider sends our emails.

We don't sell your information.

How long we keep it

Waitlist emails until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Purchase records for as long as tax law requires, which is five years in South Africa.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or stop marketing emails at any time with the unsubscribe link or by emailing . You can also object to how we use it or withdraw your consent. If you're unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

Cookies and browser storage

The site saves your email address in your browser so it doesn't ask you again. The Cutscene app saves your projects, copies of your media and your licence key in your browser on your computer; they aren't sent to us. If we run ads, the Meta Pixel sets cookies to measure them, but only after you allow it.

Information sent abroad

Lemon Squeezy, Google, Meta and our email provider may store your information outside South Africa. We only use providers that protect it to a standard similar to POPIA. The website also loads fonts from Google and the video encoder from jsDelivr, which see your IP address.
